The Thing: Remastered - Achievement Guide / Overview
A guide to the few missable achievements in The Thing Remastered including a short overview of each level.
Unmissable Achievements
All of the following achievements are part of the story and can't be missed:
Out of This World

Find the UFO (Level 1).
Let There Be Light

Restore power at Norwegian camp (Level 2a).
Bad Blood

Administer a Thing test (Level 2b).
A Pale Imitation

Defeat the Rupture Boss (Level 4b).
A Thing of the Past

Kill the final boss (Level 10).
Missable Achievements
Ghost From the Past

Play the Tape (Level 1).
During the very first level, descend into a snow pit filled with rubble. The audio recorder is hidden in the remains of a collapsed hut to the right.
Perfect Trust

Achieve 100% trust with all team members in a single level (any level).
To gain trust, kill Things in view of squad members, heal them, self-administer blood tests, and hand out weapons and ammo.
Easiest to achieve in Level 1. Start with a full squad, and distribute weapons and ammo until each member has 100% trust in you. For example, give Weldon (the unarmed squad member) a pistol you find in the level, and distribute ammo boxes for pistols and SMGs.
Colin's Fate

Find the dead Norwegian (Level 2a).
This occurs in the same room where you encounter your squad engineer Carter. A frozen corpse is sitting on a chair in the middle of the room. Approach closely to trigger a cutscene and unlock the achievement.
Audiophile

Find all tape recording save points.
There are 25 save points in the game. You must locate and use all of them to earn this achievement (refer to level guides for specific locations).
Conspiracy Theorist

Find all hidden Gen-Inc. documents.
This achievement appears to be bugged, making it impossible to unlock currently. Eight documents and 24 terminals are known to exist in the game. If you've unlocked this achievement or found additional documents, please share the details.
Remain Calm

Prevent any NPC from reaching maximum fear level in a playthrough.
The fear system is inconsistent, but keeping NPC courage levels high is relatively easy. Fear rises in horrifying environments (e.g., rooms with corpses) but decreases when squad members leave the area. Encounters with larger Things or bosses also increase fear.
Tips to manage fear:

Use adrenaline syringes for temporary courage boosts.

Arm squad members with weapons. More potent weapons increase resilience to fear:
Sniper Rifle > Shotgun > SMG > Pistol
Fear levels are indicated by verbal shouts, facial expressions, and panic alerts over squadmates' heads:

Important:
- Yellow and orange alerts don't void the achievement.
- Red alerts indicate maximum fear and will prevent you from unlocking the achievement.
Level 1 - US Base
- Achievement: Ghost from the Past - play McReady's Tape in the collapsed hut in the snow pit.
- Achievement: Out of This World - find the UFO (unmissable).
- Terminal 1: "I have compiled a 5-page report..." - Infirmary.
- Document 1: Autopsy 1 - Infirmary.
- Document 2: Autopsy 2 - Infirmary.
